La Cantina Tex-Mex Cuisine Mayville, ND

StartFragmentWhat happens when you decide it's time to get together with a group from all over eastern North Dakota? Do you meet in Fargo? Grand Forks? Cooperstown? For this group of Uncertains hailing from Arthur, Binford, Hope, Hunter and Page, you meet in Mayville, ND! Where do you meet once you are there? La Cantina, one of the best North Dakota Mexican Restraunts in the area! We finally found a Friday night without basketball, volleyball, football, and for some of us kids, so on January 26th we were all able to get together. With 5 ladies who have been friends since they were 5, there was guaranteed to be a lot of laughs on this adventure. Add to that good food, and a couple extra Uncertains, and that makes for a great night. Located in downtown Mayville, La Cantina/Heroes and Legends is a simple door on the street. Once you walk in, and venture down the steps you have the option of going to the restraunt (La Cantina) on the left or Heroes and Legends Bar on your right. With all 7 Uncertains recently turning 21 (ok maybe 20+ years ago) we opted to sit on the bar side. The restraunt and bar were both busy on this Friday night, but we had an assertive table grabber that got there first, so we were able to sit in a fairly private back table. After we all got there we were able to get our drinks ordered right away. With great Margaritas and Busch Light Pounders, this group of Uncertains were all able to get their beverage of choice! Having visited a few times before we knew, before looking at the menus, that we wanted a family size order of the Queso Blanco to go with our chips and salsa. With a creamy cheese base topped with jalapeños, and flavored with just the right amount of spice, the queso blanco has long been an Uncertain favorite! After checking out the extensive menu we ordered from the many options that included both Mexican and American favorites. The taco salad came out in a taco shell and can be ordered with your choice of meat. The seafood chimichanga was fried, drizzled with sour cream and served with rice and beans. The steak tacos were fresh with tender grilled meat, and were also served with rice and beans. The BBQ grilled chicken salad came out in a taco shell as well, with tender grilled chicken drizzled with BBQ sauce on top of lettuce, with pick de gallo and a whole lot of yummy! The other order was a plate of 3 enchiladas (2 beef and 1 chicken) also served with rice and beans! For those in the mood for an American treat the BBQ Chicken Sandwich with bacon was served with crispy golden fries. The traditional hamburger was also served with fries, and looked like a great restraunt burger! After we had stuffed ourselves we had time for a great visit, a quick game of giant jenga, but left just as the beer pong tournament was getting underway. As we left we thanked our server who had been running all night due to being short staffed. The service may have taken a little longer, but we weren't in a hurry and he was very polite and had a great sense of humor! Overall the Fiesta at La Cantina delivered! We give La Cantina/Heroes and Legends a 4.5 out of 5 stars! If you stop in you may have a bit of a wait if it's busy, but it was worth it! We may have even had time for a stop at the Top Hat and The Pit Stop! We are really trying to get back into our blogging, and find time on these freezing North Dakota weekends to try something new. If you have a recommendation for a small town restraunt or bar with great food let us know! We'll do our best to get there! #socoldyoucanseeyourbreath #take15picturestogetonegoodone #BlogpositiveEndFragment
