Sharon Bar Sharon, ND

Sharin' from Sharon

The Uncertains were back on the road on Friday, August 3rd as we headed north to Sharon, ND for some great food. While we have had the pleasure of partaking in the food at Sharon, this has been our first visit since starting our blog. Sharon was also recommended by a few of our readers so THANK YOU for the recommendations!

After settling in and checking out the specials, we decided we would try an appetizer sampler. The sampler is a choice of any 4 appetizers for $12.95. What a great idea! We are used to trying the sampler, but often times there is at least one thing that no one is a fan of! With the Sharon sampler we got to pick our favorites! We decided on jalapeno poppers and cheese curds because they are the preferred apps of the Uncertains, but we stepped out of our comfort zone with fried avocado and corn bites! They all came out hot and ready to eat! The poppers were steaming hot with a little spice, while the cheese curds were golden brown and varied in size. The deep fried avocado was an unexpected treat with a light batter, and a creamy avocado slice inside. The corn bites were like a southern corn fritter. Whole pieces of corn, bound together and fried to perfection!

As we enjoyed our appetizers we debated what to have for our main course. The evening special was Shrimp, Walleye, Philly Cheese Steak or French Dip. We decided to try an assortment and WOW was it good. The Jumbo Shrimp was served with a side of cottage fries (excellent) and your choice of tartar or cocktail sauce. The large shrimp was cooked beautifully and tasted great! The Philly Cheese Steak and the French Dip were both so tempting that while one of use ordered the French Dip the other one just couldn't decide! So what happened you asked? The server offered up a half and half! The French Dip was a perfectly toasted bun with tender beef and au jus served with a side of?? you guessed it- COTTAGE FRIES!!! The half and half was a toasted bun with Philly Cheese Steak on one side and French Dip on the other. It was also served with fries and and excellent combination.

Our evening at the Sharon Bar was validation that small towns have great things to offer! While we dined we laughed, we ate and we even got in on an episode of Alf! Although one of our wittier members was wondering "What "Alf" was on!! This is the same member that was talking about the golf course designer Maury Povich-you just never know what the topic will turn to next!!

We are getting back in to the swing of our blog as summer slows down! We continue to add to our lists of places to go, and thank you for your patience as life and work sometimes get in the way! Keep your suggestions coming and stay tuned for our next blog and if you are looking for something to do this weekend come out for The Connor Flaten Benefit at the Hope American Legion on Sunday, August 13th at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served with a silent auction also!! Come out and support Red as he continues to work hard and motivate himself to make it back to school for his Senior Year at Hope-Page High School!
