It looked so good we couldn't stop to get pictures! That was the consensus June 23rd when 4 of us traveled to J & L's Bar & Grill Lodge in Sanborn, ND. Located in the small town of Sanborn, J & L's has been updated and offers both bar and grill with separate seating for those coming to dine. We happened across J & L's a few years back on the way home from the Runnin' of the Green in Jamestown. We didn't eat that time, but have been back a couple of times since to try their food. We decided it was finally time to blog about it, so 4 of us loaded up into the van and made our way to Sanborn. After arriving and ordering drinks, we perused the menu and discovered they have steaks on their regular menu. We looked over a variety of appetizers, and chose the boneless garlic Parmesan wings to start with. We then ordered our entree-3 of us had the small ribeye and one super adventurous uncertain decided to order the chicken strip basket. The ribeyes were cooked to order and well seasoned. They were served with a salad, toast and your choice of potato. For an additional charge you can get topping for the steak so 2 of us opted for mushrooms and onions-they were well prepared and added flavor to the already well seasoned steaks. We ordered hash browns as our choice of potato, and 1 of us opted for the loaded baked potato. The hash browns were well prepared with a crispy golden brown topping while the potato had bacon and cheese to make it even better. The meal was good and the serving staff was friendly and attentive. Overall we would rate J & L's 4 1/2 out of 5 vans! On the way home we stopped at Punky's in Dazey, and they were having Indian Taco Night! We are looking forward to going and checking that out, but we were stuffed on Friday so couldn't even think about more food! The Uncertains will continue to travel to all of the small town's around and try to keep up with the great things they have going on!
